Jul. 2nd, 2024 09:03 pmI had a customer today who kept insisting that a dress she was trying to buy was supposed to be half off. And. . like. . .it was not ringing up that price. Because the sale she was talking about was for like. . .the dresses that were like $40 - $50 were the ones on sale. Her dress was $30. (to be clear, she wanted it for like $20, which I could have done if they'd been more agreeable or even like. . .they started out trying to say it was $10 and then changed it to $20 when i was like I KNOW THAT'S NOT RIGHT.)
I showed her the signs that said which ones were on sale and she was like "well that's misleading" and I was like (only if you can't read) "it's clearly marked on the sign" but they said I needed to take the signs down and I was like "it's not my department? I can't do anything about the signs."
and they (her husband immediately became belligerent cause I assume he thought he could intimidate the lady retail worker) were like WELL YOU'RE GONNA GET MORE PEOPLE CONFUSED ABOUT THE SIGNS. The sale's been going on since May. We're well aware of it. Sale is over in four days. It's fine. We'll survive. I just kind of shrugged and was like "there's nothing I can do about that." So they paid for their shit and walked away. (To be clear, even if they'd been right about the sale, I couldn't have DONE anything about the price. Like. . .that's a service desk problem which if they'd shut up for a second, I'd have just sent them up there.)
Me and the other lady on SCO watched them go up to the service desk and awhile later, they left. So we asked the girl on the desk what happened and she said "yeah I just gave them the difference because they were upset". So why did I bother telling them the prices/upholding the fucking sale?
She also said that "they said the person who helped them gave them an attitude" and I was like I DID. Because they can't READ. Tho I think I was pretty hospitable, just kind of short with them because we had a LINE and again, they can't read.
If I'd known I was gonna get accused of being a bitch, I WOULD HAVE BEEN A BITCH. Thank god I'm off tomorrow. I'm doing nothing but writing omg.
Thanks for the reminder of why I HATE retail me and the coworker who was working with me were both just FLABBERGASTED.
